The maintenance page serves to display a maintenance message (plugins updating or installation, the theme code editing etc.). If a user tries to enter your site, they will only see the Maintenance Page.
Attention: to enable Maintenance Page display, the theme's functionality provides an option to insert special strings-rules into ".htaccess" file to redirect to the Maintenance Page. Considering the fact that not all the servers support ".htaccess" file, some peculiarities in this functionality of the theme may occur.
To make this functionality work correctly, we strongly recommend to follow the algorithm below.
The algorithm to enable the Maintenance Page:
- create one ore several pages in advance, and assign the template of "Unity Maintenance Page" display.
( In order to make the page not displayed in the frontend of the site, we recommend setting the "Draft" status for this page (pages) ) - mark "Enable the Maintenance Page" in the "Main" tab on the theme settings page.
- click "Save changes".
- go to the Permalinks page (Main menu -> Settings -> Permalinks).
- if the settings of your "Permalinks" page differ from the default settings, we strongly recommend you to save your settings by making notes in any text file or a screenshot of the settings page.
- select any setting in "Main settings", except "Default settings".
- click "Save changes".
The algorithm to disable the Maintenance Page:
- unmark "Enable the Maintenance Page" in the "Main" tab on the theme settings page.
- click "Save changes".
- go to the Permalinks page (Main menu -> Settings -> Permalinks).
- select "Default".
- click "Save changes".
- restore the previous settings on the "Permalinks" page if they differ from the default settings.
- click "Save changes".
